Our Favorite Place

I cannot count how many hours Evan and I have spent curled up in this chair together, feeding and sleeping. These are some older pictures but ones I wanted to share before I forget about them, because they make me smile :)

Happy Father's Day!

Happy Father's Day to Ed,

the most loving, caring dad to our sweet little boy.

From playing together,

to moving together,

reading together,

And of course cuddling,

...he is the best.

Evan and I  are so lucky to have him in our lives!

Flashback: Celebrating Mother's Day

With Father's Day just around the corner, I realized that I never shared how I spent Mother's Day! It was absolutely perfect.

It started with Ed and Sabine watching Evan in the morning so that I could sleep in (as much as an always hungry baby lets you). After I got up and got Evan fed, I got to dress him up in his little overalls, which are my favorite.

Ed and Sabine made a fantastic breakfast while I cuddled with Evan, which we enjoyed outside while our little boy slept next to us in the swing.

Then, we headed inside for presents!

I was spoiled, with lovely picture frames from both my mom and friends Bill and Jenny, some kitchen supplies from my mom, a Kindle/amazon gift card from Sabine, many lovely cards, and a beautiful diamond necklace (Evan's birthstone) from Ed (you can just make it out in the picture above.

After gifts, we skyped/facetimed with both my side of the family and with Ed's, which was wonderful. We especially enjoyed getting to see niece Amelia, niece Meagan and nephew Matthew. Technology is a wonderful thing!

Much of the rest of the morning was spent getting some wonderful cuddles from my sleepy little boy.

Sabine wonderfully offered to babysit so that Ed and I could go out for Mother's Day lunch.

I'll admit, I was pretty nervous. However, we went to the sushi place that is literally a 3 minute drive from our house, and had a fantastic meal. I greatly enjoyed my special mother's day wine ($0.99 for moms), and some very yummy sushi.

Plus, getting some quality time with the love of my life was pretty wonderful, too.

The rest of the day was more Evan cuddling and relaxing, and generally just getting to enjoy being the mom to the best little boy there ever was. I have wanted to be a mother almost my entire life (my mom tells me that, before her expert revision help, my college essay was basically an essay about why I wanted to be a mom. She helped me turn it into why I wanted to be a teacher, which ended up pretty spot on :) ). Part of me worried that since I had built up motherhood so much in my mind, the reality might fall a bit short.

Ends up, it's even better than I imagined.

Our Very Hungry Caterpillar

my little model

This was the first onsie I ever bought for him, when I was in the middle of my pregnancy. It's another "this can't possibly fit" shirt that I am wishing I starting putting on him earlier. So special to see our little baby wearing clothing I bought when he was still a growing inside of me. And looking awfully cute doing it!

Evan's Moves

Some videos of our cute little boy, from 4 weeks to 7 weeks! I cannot promise that these are the most exciting videos ever, but they are awfully cute :).

Growing Too Fast...

Do babies all grow this quickly? I think we've been in a bit of denial (or at least I have) about this little boy's growth. I've had some 0-3 outfits in the closet that I was sure were way too big for him, and they are actually pretty snug.

Our little baseball player.

Then, on a whim I put him in a 3-6 month outfit only to find that it fit really well! So, I tried him in my favorite little 3-6 month shirts and found that they are somehow already tight along the shoulders. And, his 6 month shorts are super snug (though the diapers have a bit to do with this!)

The icing on the cake, though, was when we tried to swaddle him the other night to discover that it was impossible to fasten the sides any more - he was just too big. Until our new ones arrive in the mail, we're doing some one arm swaddling.

It does make sense that he's growing out of all of these clothes. When I weighed him at the last breastfeeding group on Friday, he clocked in at around 14 lbs. That means that the past month, he's been gaining a pound a week, and is already up 5 lbs from his lowest weight.

(Un)surprisingly, I am definitely one of those moms that tears up at the thought of her little boy growing up. It's started to hit me that someday he won't be small enough to sleep curled up on my chest, with his little legs tucked under him. I just hope that day isn't anytime soon.

Some of the looks Evan is sporting for the Arizona summer :).
