Week 16 and Thankfulness: 8

The weeks really do keep flying by faster, and faster. We'll be at that magical halfway mark before we know it!
(Belly has "popped" a bit more :). Also loving my new maternity shirt I picked up last weekend!)

Thankfulness: So, so thankful for Fridays :). Oh my goodness, I am exhausted today! Ed and I went for a run/walk this morning which energized me for about an hour. I've been dragging the rest of the day. But in general, I'm thankful for the gift of weekends, which are so lovely, especially since I work so much less on weekends than I used to.

How Far Along?  16 weeks!

Size of the Baby? Baby has grown over half an inch and an entire ounce this week! Maybe that's why I'm so tired - baby needs my energy.
Sleep? Eh, not so great. I've been pretty tired this week, capped off by a few hours of insomnia Wednesday night. I am beyond exhausted today and may go to bed around 7:30 tonight. Maybe this week will be better!

Eating? Eh. I definitely am having fewer aversions. However, I still keep feeling nauseous before, during and after lunch and dinner (and in the afternoon). I've been wondering why my weight hasn't really been going up, but as Ed pointed out, this whole feeling sick thing means that I am not eating nearly as much as I used to. I did have 6 ribs tonight for dinner, though, so hopefully things are turning around!

Exercise: I'm finding the beginning of the work week a hard one for working out, and feeling super sick Sunday and Monday definitely didn't help. So, I got 3 real workouts plus a long walk around the mall :). Yoga and two days of running! The running has been fun. I did 2 miles both mornings, in 30 minutes, so I'm not breaking any speed records, and include plenty of walking. But, it feels nice to be active.

Best Moment? Hmm...I think getting running again has been great, especially getting to run with Ed this morning. I've also been enjoying getting a little bigger - it makes me feel like the baby is more real. I look in the mirror and can't help but say "hi" to the baby.

Milestones: I had my first random student ask me this week if "I had a baby." Another kid jumped in to say, "Mrs. Lyon, he's trying to ask you if you're pregnant." It's fun to be much more noticeably pregnant.

Mommy Update: Just very excited for a three day weekend. I'm super glad that I'm an experienced teacher, because I'm not sure how I could handle this otherwise, since I'm working so much less outside of my work day. In part because I'm tutoring, I work from 8:10 - 5pm without much in the way of breaks, three days of the week, and often have meetings the other two days. I just can't get to work at 7 any more and put in work before the real work day, so I'm flying by the seat of my pants a bit more. Luckily, I've had some good intense working periods throughout the year that's kept me with good lessons/teaching, and I just know how to work smarter. Hoping some energy eventually comes back though.

Baby Update: Baby is getting more amazing every day. We're super excited that it can now hear our voice. Maybe that's why I've been wanting to talk to it more! It's also growing hair, eyelashes, and eyebrows, and its heart is pumping 25 quarts of blood a day. We're finally at that magical milestone where I can start hoping to feel this little one, thanks to its ever increasing size. Sometimes I imagine I'm feeling it, but I still am waiting for that first definitive movement.

Happy Weekend!

  1. Had to catch up on all the "thankfulness!" This is such a great idea, Adelyn! I especially liked the post about your revealing your pregnancy. :) That moment was priceless! I also like your baby updates and hearing about the prenatal class. I like how "hands-on" it is. I can't wait to meet this little guy or gal.
